I am sorry I have missed posting so many friday inspirations. I am in middle of a big move and haven't had the time I usually do to browse through blogs and such to find inspiration to share with you all. This week how about you all share something that you find inspiring! Maybe a blog or a movie or a certain part in a book.. anything! Just comment here and check back to see what others post too!

CHALLENGE! March, Week 3: Hunger Games

Hunger Games was my favorite book series of last year, so in honor of the movie coming out this week I have to make this the challenge of the week. If you haven't read the books I am very sorry if this topic doesn't interest you.. I hope it can though! Try google'ing 'hunger games' images and wiki the books summary to get an idea of what this series is about. A lot of really interesting characters! Some are almost Dr. Seuss-ish and others are very rugged. More so then they should be for their age.. all with different survival tactics and talents!

Hmmm. Not much good at copying since I tend to operate relative to my own personal muse. These would look a bunch better in color, but that probably won't happen. Figured if they were engaged in an off-stage card game, they'd still remain pretty much in character.

Friday Inspiration: Posebook

As artists we are always collecting reference and building libraries for anything we come across.. or at least I wish I was doing more of this! Well some one just made life a little bit easier for us artists! Steven Silver, a very talented and super nice character designer, came up with an application called Posebook.

The purpose of this book is to provide you with images to inspire you. A book dedicated to help guide every artist, to learn about, construction, form, balance anatomy, proportion, folds in clothing, gesture, silhouettes, portraiture, lighting, hands, perspective, and contrast. 

Two catches though.. There is a male and female version at $9.99 each, so it does cost some money. And the second thing is it only works on the iphone, ipad or android at the moment. Maybe it will be available in more formats soon? Anyways, I am in no way attached to Silver, so not trying to sell his product for him... but I do think this is a really neat reference to have and one I will be getting for sure!

Okay, I'm fudging a bit. I sent this to friends and tolerant acquaintences for Valentine's greets. I know it's a little goopy, but that's me. I'd expanded the base a bit so I could embed text; it's cut down here. My color stuff isn't as cool as what all you do. But 'tis what it is...
